Obi-Wan Kenobi won a new trailer yesterday, May 4th, on Star Wars Day. The new trailer isn’t as explosive or revealing as the first, but it does give a little more insight into the world and the story, as well as giving us a few more glimpses of Ewan McGregor and his return to the role of the famous Jedi Master.
The series follows Obi-Wan (Ewan McGregor) as he is on the run from Inquisitors, the Empire’s Jedi hunters, and bounty hunters. The show also features Moses Ingram, Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simone Kessell and Benny Safdie. Deborah Chow directed the six-episode limited series.
Take a look at the new trailer for Obi-Wan Kenobi:
As might be expected, the trailer had some easter eggs that not everyone may have been able to find. To make everyone’s job easier, we’ve separated a list with some clues that the new promotional video presented. Check out:
Daiyu
While a good chunk of this show will take place on Star Wars’ favorite planet Tatooine, we’ll also be introduced to a new one: Daiyu. Writer Job Harold described the planet to the Entertainment Weekly , saying the planet “kind of has a Hong Kong feel. It has a graffiti-filled nightlife and is kind of daring. It just has a different track and a different feeling.”
the inquisitors
If you’ve watched Star Wars: Rebels or played Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, you’re somewhat familiar with these people. From left to right we have Moses Ingram as the Third Sister (Reva), Rupert Friend as the Grand Inquisitor and Sung Kang as the Fifth Brother.
This group of Jedi hunters working for the Empire first appeared in a Star Wars RPG in the 1980s. They were reintroduced in Star Wars: Rebels. They are not members of the Sith, but they are Force-sensitive. As far as the public is aware, there are at least 10 of them, and of those 10, one couple has yet to appear on screen.
Owen Lars
We finally see a confrontation between Obi-Wan and Owen Lars – Luke Skywalker’s uncle and adoptive father. Lars is played by Joel Edgerton, who you might know from The Green Knight or It Comes at Night.
I made a big mistake
Owen doesn’t want Obi-Wan to train Luke to become a Jedi, but Obi-Wan disagrees. After Owen mentioned Luke’s father trained by Obi-Wan, there’s an immediate look of regret on Obi-Wan’s face. The truth hurts, doesn’t it? Obi-Wan will always have to deal with the fact that he trained Vader.
More Inquisitors
We’ve already been introduced to three of the Inquisitors, and in this scene, there’s a fourth – the one on the left. This could be the Seventh Sister, who was an important part of the Rebels. However, because of the tube protruding from the back of her head – which could be tentacles, something the Seventh Sister doesn’t have – this could actually be the Fourth Sister. She’s the only inquisitor of the 10 that have been identified that we haven’t seen yet – although Lina Graf has depicted her in a Star Wars comic, wearing her uniform and helmet, which completely covers her face.
LOM series droid
These bizarre bug-eyed robots were created to look like the species they were supposed to serve, the Gand. However, these droids had a problem: their personality software could be corrupted and even replaced by the droid itself.
The most notable droid in the LOM series is none other than 4-LOM, a bounty hunter who made his first appearance in The Empire Strikes Back. While this might be 4-LOM up, there were a few other LOM-series droids that also broke free of their programming to become enforcers on the Outer Rim.
Ataque Zabrak
We don’t see this species very often, but this is a Zabrak, whose homeworld is Iridonia – although many have also immigrated to Dathomir, where Darth Maul is from.
Fortress of the Inquisitors
In the Mustafar system of the Outer Rim, you’ll find the moon Nur, which houses what you see above: the Inquisitorius Stronghold. This is where Inquisitors train and interrogate captured Jedi. He made his first appearance in the video game Fallen Order.
