There will be more female eSports, yes. Ubisoft, a leader in the creation, publishing and distribution of games and interactive entertainment services, has just announced the renewal of sponsorship from Lenovo, a leading provider of intelligent technology, to the 2022 Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege Women’s Circuit, a electronic sports that will be played until November of this year, will have a total prize pool of R$300 thousand and will give places for the Brazilian Cup of the modality.
According to Anelise Soares, Brand Partnership Manager at Ubisoft:
“The Rainbow Six Siege Women’s Circuit has received great encouragement over the years and has shown how competitive and relevant the women’s scene is. Lenovo, which has been a partner of Ubisoft since the first edition of the tournament five years ago, has played a very important role in this trajectory. Everyone who supports projects like this supports the representation of athletes in eSports and, once again, we are ready to show that women can and should compete at the highest level.”
For Julia “juu” Brito, champion player of the 2021 edition with Red Wolf, the chance to compete in the Women’s Circuit is also important for other girls who dream of venturing into this segment:
“CF is the beginning and middle of the process of including players who want to have the feeling of being in a competition without being judged all the time, which unfortunately happens a lot in the mixed scenario.”
The athlete also highlights the importance of having a competitive scenario for women and how much her debut last year changed people’s perception of her potential:
“In the beginning, almost no one believed in us, but when we were champions there was a huge recognition, even in the mixed scenario. Now, I remain focused and perfecting myself because, in addition to the stage title, the 2022 circuit will give three spots to the Rainbow Six Copa do Brasil, which increases our visibility and is another opportunity for all of us to show what we are capable of we want to do”.
According to Barbara Toscano, Lenovo’s chief marketing officer:
“Lenovo believes in diversity and inclusion as an engine of innovation for a more just and tolerant society. We understand that supporting women’s championships is a way to foster representation in the gaming ecosystem and we are happy to continue to partner with the Rainbow Six Siege Women’s Circuit for another year and provide the smartest technology for gamers.”
The Rainbow Six Siege Women’s Circuit has been part of the Ubisoft calendar since 2018 and the first four editions were won by Team Fontt, Black Dragons, FURY and Red Wolf. This year, until the final phase, in November, there will be five stages, whose awards are divided as follows:
