The brand of Mars responds to social media rumors about smoothing the product to remove its “X rating” (rating indicated for adults only).
Snickers is putting an end to rumors of having “smoothed” the part of the chocolate frosting under the bar to eliminate what some have characterized as a penile vein.
The brand stated in a tweet: “Good news, contrary to what is trending on Twitter… THE VEINS REMAIN!”

O site Snopes.com, who specializes in consolidating (or not) popular rumours, linked the source of the rumors to a photograph circulating on social media that revealed an unusually smooth chocolate bar with a smoother-than-usual surface, along with claims that would have removed the vein because of the X-rated image. “It’s already starting. I just bought one Snickers (my favorite candy, I might add), and it came completely smooth. I’m disgusted. I’m chocked. I need to be alone right now.”

The Site concluded that this smoother bar could have been something unique, possibly due to a manufacturing error, but this one ended the rumor by saying: “The Mars did not remove a “penile vein” from chocolate bars after being pressed for a racial or social discrimination alert. In fact, we didn’t find any requests for this “vein” to be removed.”
O Snopes.com further concluded that the rumor was rooted in Mars’ move earlier this year to have its branded characters M&M were revised, including a softening in the style sexy of the green chocolate.
In the wake of these changes, many people joked about other sweets that needed to be desexualized, like the bar. Snickers and his vein, which social media users have scoffed at since at least the year 2009.
A Mars is now clearly enjoying the rumors. not just the Snickers tweetou about it, but also other brands owned by the company itself. Marshow twixwhat tweetou “Close Call”(within a close call), leading the brand with the rumors of the time to respond: “Waiting for the day you show me yours”.
The incident is further proof that brands are more comfortable than ever addressing once-taboo topics, especially on social media, while vying for consumer attention.
