A Colorado Brewery brings to the market a sustainable packaging solution produced with agricultural reuse, basically corn straw, 100% mechanically and without the use of chemicals. The novelty can be disposed of in a completely compostable way or recycled along the paper chain.
To create the new packaging, Colorado – Ambev’s brewery – bet on a biomaterial that has a completely sustainable life cycle and consumes 80% less water in production. In addition, the new solution reduces carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by 50% and saves 25% of electricity compared to cardboard.
“Colorado has invested in solutions that value the country’s biodiversity and works with communities that play a fundamental role in the conservation and maintenance of the standing forest. Packaging is yet another step in a whole process we are working on to help preserve the environment”, explains Daniel Carneiro, Colorado Marketing Manager.
The novelty comes in a limited edition, exclusive to 350ml can Sleek, from the Colorado Ribeirão Lager line and is only available in São Paulo, at Toca do Urso. This initiative is part of a set of actions aligned with Ambev’s sustainability agenda, with goals to be achieved by 2025.
This week, the company also announced a global action plan with the objective of zeroing the carbon emissions of its value chain by 2040. The innovation fronts in sustainable packaging and circular economy continue to be great allies in this process towards net zero.
To make this project viable, Ambev entered into a partnership with growPack, a startup participating in the second edition of the Aceleradora 100+ program in 2020.
