Nike turns 50 this year, and to celebrate the brand’s half century, it invited Spike Lee to direct and star in the campaign, alongside actress Indigo Ubbard-Salk.
In the video, the pair are sitting around playing a game of chess as Lee begins to recall all the great sporting moments he’s witnessed over the years and Hubbard-Salk is tasked with remembering today’s sportsmen like Ja Morant and Naomi Osaka.
The film ends with the actress telling Lee, “Look OG, no disrespect, I know you think you’ve seen it all, but you haven’t seen anything yet. Checkmate!”.
According to The Drum, the filmmaker and the brand have had a relationship for years and Lee has directed and starred in some of Nike’s best-known commercials alongside Michael Jordan.
