Globo survey shows that 72% of Brazilians intend to give gifts to partners
Valentine’s Day 2022 should be busy, according to a survey carried out by Globo, which shows that 72% of people intend to gift their partners. At the same time, purchases should be impacted by the economic scenario. 59% of respondents said they intend to maintain the amount spent last year and 15% should decrease it – only 26% want to increase. With inflation on the rise, the information reveals a loss of purchasing power.
Among the items they intend to buy for pairs, Brazilians put clothes and perfumes in first place, with 24% of intentions. Then, sweets and chocolates, 23%, special meal away from home, 14%, flowers, 12%, and accessories, 11%. Acquisitions that must be made in physical stores of major brands, 38%, physical stores of local commerce, 33%, and marketplaces, 31%.
As for the moment of purchase, 59% say they will buy in advance, 20% approximately one month before and 39%, 15 days ago.
Another interesting fact is that 31% of Brazilians must prepare a special meal at home. For this audience, physical supermarkets and hypermarkets gain preference in the purchase of ingredients, 63%, followed by wholesale markets, 29%, and small neighborhood markets, 26%.
