The campaign aims to give visibility to the types of violence and to show what men can do to stop the cycle.
WhatsApp launched an awareness campaign on gender violence in partnership with PapodeHomem, this Tuesday (24).
The partnership aims to bring visibility to the most common types of violence against women online and to show what men can do to prevent and stop this cycle.
The campaign has visual resources aimed at men on how to be an ally in everyday life and in chatting with friends, bringing important information to foster more responsible and safer environments for everyone.
“We want to shed light on these behaviors with informative content that can help men identify practices that are toxic to women and show how they can act to intervene in this type of behavior,” explained Ciça Sampaio, Strategic Partnerships manager at Meta for Latin America and one of the leaders of Women@, an affinity group for women and allies in the company, to which WhatsApp belongs.
The pieces have the function of stimulating awareness and clarification of sexist and violent behaviors that are very common in women’s daily lives, especially on digital platforms, such as stalking, cyberbullying, sextortion, doxing and astroturfing, so that they can identify, avoid and act. .
“This conversation is with all men. Only 4% of men recognize that they have committed violence against women and many of those who do not agree with violent attitudes, do nothing when they see something wrong. We want men to understand their part of the responsibility and get their hands dirty to stop the cycles of violence”, said Gabriella Feola, coordinator of research, development and impact at Papo de Homem.
The pieces will be shown exclusively on PapodeHomem’s social networks and will feature interactive content such as polls that encourage public participation and engagement.
In the future, the campaign will be extended to other Latin American countries.
