Study “Women in Communication – their strength, their challenges”, was carried out by Aberje (Brazilian Association of Business Communication)
The way for women working in the communication market to have an environment with equity involves four strategic actions, according to data from the study “Women in Communication – their strength, their challenges”, by the Brazilian Association of Business Communication (Aberje). In its second edition, the survey sought to understand the challenges that women face in the corporate environment.
For them, companies need to make changes in organizational culture (51%), create affirmative initiatives for equal opportunities between genders (49%), new recruitment and selection policies and practices (43%) and increase the number of women in decision-making posts (40%).
Respondents believe that in order to break down barriers and achieve goals, companies have to define and monitor goals for gender equity, 38%; rely on resources to boost actions, 36%; intensify communication about the commitment, 35%; and developing strategies to promote women’s careers, 34%.
On the other hand, access to better opportunities in organizations depends mainly on three factors. Among them, professional experience, 56%; individual performance, 48%; and the network of contacts (41%). And yet, in 15% of the companies, there is a gender bias.
The study had the participation of 554 women who work in the area of communication in different companies and regions of the country. The majority, 67%, in private organizations, 41% in national and 26% in multinationals.
