An out of season Carnival should take to the streets of São Paulo between the 16th and 17th of July, according to a decision by the São Paulo City Hall, which opened a tender to choose a sponsor for the party.
Companies will have until June 17 to apply, and the person who pays the highest amount, from R$ 10 million, wins.
For the edition, which will have the participation of 296 blocks previously registered for the street Carnival that was scheduled for the month of February, the city hall expects to receive more than 4.5 million people and to have more than 5 thousand accredited street vendors.
At the end of 2021, the city hall had made a bid for the Carnival scheduled for February. Ambev was the only one to present a proposal and won by offering R$ 23 million, the minimum amount requested by the municipality. The forecast was that the edition would receive more than 15 million revelers. With the arrival of the Omicron variant, the carnival was canceled as well as the deal.
Pre-pandemic, Ambev had been the winner for four consecutive years of the São Paulo street carnival. In 2017 and 2018, in partnership with Dream Factory, and in the two subsequent years with Arosuco, a subsidiary of the company.
