With the purpose of sensitizing people, through art, about the importance of preserving the Atlantic Forest, one of the main biomes on the planet, the artistic intervention Big Heart Parade brings together sculptures in the shape of hearts, inspired by typical species of the region, created by artists engaged with the environmental cause. The exhibition signed by Toptrends, a company specialized in cultural marketing, curated by Thiago Cóstackz, multimedia plastic artist and documentary filmmaker, can be seen, free of charge, between June 1st and July 1st, at Cetenco Plaza (Avenida Paulista, 1842) .
The initiative also pays tribute to World Environment Day, a date created by the UN to promote environmental action around the world, which celebrated its 50th anniversary on June 5th. The 30 works were installed in totems with a small nursery for seedlings, some of which are threatened with extinction, such as: araucaria, cedro-rosa, jequitibá-rosa, palm-juçara and pau-brasil. After the event, the plants will be donated to planting projects in public schools on the outskirts of São Paulo.
A Big Heart Parade – Atlantic Forest EditionIt has the support of the Ministry of Tourism, through the Special Secretariat for Culture, and the sponsorship of Liberty Seguros, one of the largest insurance companies in the country, and the local support of the Government of the State of São Paulo, Mina Cultural, IPÊ – Instituto de Pesquisas Ecological and Memorial of Latin America.
For Daniela Bouissou, director of transformation at Liberty Seguros, issues related to ESG (Environmental, social, and corporate governance)are part of the company’s strategy. Therefore, the insurer supports actions to contribute to a more sustainable world, such as the Big Heart Parade. “Sponsorship of this initiative is part of Liberty’s Sustainability Plan, aligned with the UN SDGs, and we are pleased to participate in such an important movement in favor of the Atlantic Forest, one of the main biomes in the world, which today has so many species under threat of extinction”, adds Bouissou.
“We want to sensitize people with the power of art, in the shape of a heart, a vital organ for life and a symbol of love, about the urgency of protecting the environment and planting trees to combat the dramatic impact of global warming, among others. measures”, comments Catherine Duvignau, CEO of Toptrends, which has held the rights to perform the Big Heart Parade in Brazil since 2013.
According to Thiago Cóstackz, the exhibition highlights the role of art as a transforming agent. “For a long time, some more conservative critics rejected a deeper engagement of artists and their productions in causes such as the environment. But that has changed, and today the largest artistic institutions in the world have exhibited the most diverse exhibitions, seminars and artistic interventions that aim to foster debate by questioning the course of our civilization, which has predatorily destroyed areas of vast and untouched nature, making them increasingly increasingly rare and at risk of collapse”, concludes Thiago.
At the end of the event, as part of the legacy, there will be a charity auction of the works in favor of Association of Rural Women of Rio dos Índioslocated in the city of Ceará-Mirim (RN), and IPÊ – Institute for Ecological Research, which turns 30 in 2022, is responsible for planting almost 6 million trees in the Atlantic Forest and also for the largest reforestation corridor in the biome in Brazil. The project SOS Earth will receive the donation of seedlings with the objective of conducting reforestation workshops with public schools in peripheral regions of the city of São Paulo.
