A Cervejaria Artesanal Øl Beerreturn home with more2 silver medalsin the chest. Awarded in the “Belgian IPA” and “Witbier” categories, the beersThor e Odin (respectively) took second placena International Red Ring Beer Competition.
The award ceremony took place in the city of Tampico, Mexico and featured all Mexican breweries and brands from different parts of the world.
“It was our first competition outside of South America and we are very pleased! In addition to winning 4amedal of our Thor Belgian IPA, we won silver with our Witbier, Odin. To have this recognition after we have refined our entire range is an incredible feeling.”comments Eduardo Vosgerau, ØL’s partner-owner and brewer.
For Isadora Neier, brewmaster and also a partner at Øl Beer, the experience of competing with major world breweries brought a series of lessons learned.“One point I noticed was the participation of few Brazilian breweries. It was a slightly different experience for us, as we were competing with beers from Canada, the United States… So it was really cool and positive! We were anxious all week while we waited for the result”.
Thor and Odin: The Award-Winning Beers
With this award, the champion beer of ØL, the Thor Belgian IPA, accumulates its 4amedal. Represented by the Norse god of thunder, war and strength, Thor beer has 6.7% alcohol, has several special ingredients and bringscitrus aroma and spicy flavor, due to the Belgian yeast used in their recipe. Brings a fruity and sweet finish, and a medium body.
Thor is also awarded by the 9th Brazilian Beer Contest (having silver in 2021 and bronze in 2022) and by Copa Cervezas de America 2019 (bronze medal).
Awarded for the first time, theOdin Witbierrepresented by the god Odin, symbol of wisdom and balance, won in the “Witbier” category, taking the silver medal. Odin beer has 5.2% alcohol and brings wheat with the addition oforange peel, lemon peel and spices: cilantro, nutmeg e juniper. This combination of ingredients presents a complex flavor and a very pleasant aromatic bouquet.
The brewmaster ends by stating that the focus of the Paraná brewery is now another: “We will now dedicate ourselves to the gold medal in the next championships”.
