The concept of the new product is to allow users to purchase digital clothing for the avatars used on the company’s networks, such as Instagram and Facebook.
Meta announced this Friday (17) the brands Balenciaga, Prada and Thom Browne as the first partners in the clothing store for avatars of the company, which should be launched soon. The announcement was made in a live on Instagram between Eva Chen, director of fashion partnerships at Instagram, and Mark Zuckeberg, ceo of the company.
The concept of the new product is to allow users to purchase digital clothing for the avatars used on the company’s networks, such as Instagram, Facebook and Whastapp.
Over time, the project should become a marketplace where developers can sell and create their products.
“In the future, anyone who basically has a computer and imagination will be able to present their ideas,” said Zuckerberg, paralleling the current design process, which demands physical materials and equipment. “And it’s going to be a lot of fun to check it out too.”
According to the executive, the agreement with iconic brands in the fashion world represents a great achievement for the company. “These are big steps for avatars, for Meta and I hope we can do a lot more from here.”
