The UN Refugee Agency presented the film “Uprooted”, which shows Ukrainian refugees reliving the traumas caused by the war.
The production was directed by Andzej Gavriss, director of Stink Films and had a partnership with Don’t Panic London.
The film captures and relives the experiences of war survivors who had to leave their country after the invasion of Russia, showing everyday situations with people who are experiencing the effects of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), making sounds.” simple” like slamming doors and fireworks, turn into painful memories.
“Since the war started, I’ve been hearing numerous stories from Ukrainian refugees detailing the debilitating effects of PTSD. We decided to make a film and use our art as a form of contribution. Despite all the pain, the film ends with a message of hope and unity — to stand together and give each other strength,” explained Andzej.
The director wrote the concept for the film, which has been showing for free in UK cinemas, in partnership with choreographer and Ukrainian refugee Konstantin Koval and creative Rick Dodds of London’s Don’t Panic.
The video was produced in Berlin, where several people have settled since they had to leave Ukraine, more than 60 refugees from the country were involved in the project.
