From June 23 to 30, Saquarema beach, in Rio de Janeiro, will receive the best surfers in the world for the Brazilian stage of the world surfing championship, the World Surf League (WSL). But, before giving a show in the water, the beerCoronasummoned a trio of representatives of the surfing elite in Brazil to make a difference in the sand: today (22/06), three-time champion and current world championGabriel Medinathe current leader of the global male rankingFilipe Toledo and the female surfing starTatiana Weston-Webb led a beach cleaning action in Saquarema, ensuring environmental preservation so that the sea continues to be the protagonist for many championships. The action, which was carried out in partnership with the NGO Mar Sem Lixo, removed irregularly discarded waste from the beach, especially plastic waste.
Born on the beach, Corona beer is a sponsor of the World Surfing League in Brazil and around the world and has a long-standing relationship with the sport. But this passion also involves the preservation of the oceans and natural paradises – that’s why, at this stage of the WSL in Rio de Janeiro, Ambev beer will use its space in the championship to engage athletes and the public, with various actions that reinforce the connection between surfing and sustainability.
“I grew up on the beach, so this relationship with the sea is part of my story and who I am – always in the water and with my feet in the sand I feel at home, no matter where I am. Surfing is also about that, being in harmony with nature and taking care of paradises so that they continue to welcome us with open arms”, says Gabriel Medina. “I am excited to be back at Saquarema and happy to be able to help by participating in this action alongside Corona and my friends Filipinho and Tati”, he adds.
