Farfetch Limited published the second version of the Conscious Luxury Annual Trends Report, which found that the platform’s customers who purchased a product from the Conscious Collection in 2021 increased by 60% over the previous year.
In summary, the Conscious Luxury Trends Report revealed that luxury consumers are consuming more responsibly and that brands on the platform are responding to growing demand by consolidating and increasing commitments to improve the impact on people, planet and animals. .
According to the study, 79% of Farfetch’s customers said they had adopted one or more more sustainable behaviors, one of them being the purchase of luxury products because they believe that these brands are more sustainable than fast fashions, in addition to having a higher quality and consequently, are more durable.
“The data makes it clear that consumer appetite for more conscious and circular ways to engage with fashion continues to grow, and that brands are responding to the opportunities this trend presents,” said Thomas Berry, Senior Director of Sustainable Business, Farfetch.
The survey also found that sales of conscientious products grew 1.8x faster than the market average, compared to 2021, and that searches for Conscious terms on the platform increased 93% over the previous year. Use of the Conscious filter on the Farfetch website and in the app has increased 29% year over year.
In addition, the survey also pointed to a trend of circular fashion in the fashion world: 22% of respondents stated that, in the last 12 months, they started selling items they no longer wore, 20% stated that they donated a fashion item used in the last year and 13% said they repaired one of their items.
In the platform’s list of brands and boutiques, 220 of them are well rated by Good On You, an increase of 13% over the previous year, and the amount of conscious products provided by the chain grew 40% year on year.
