Stella Artois beer wants to increase the female role in Brazilian gastronomy and, for that, will sponsor a course to help entrepreneurs from all over Brazil to boost their business in the food sector. Ambev’s beer will fund 100% of the classes, creating 1,200 vacancies dedicated to women professionals.
Developed by Sebrae-MG, the program started in Belo Horizonte, but expanded to receive students from all over Brazil, bringing together disciplines designed to help those already working in the sector to give more visibility to their business — the activities are optional and participants can choose up to three classes from the list: in addition to a lecture on female entrepreneurship in gastronomy, the program also includes topics such as planning and production of content for social media, assembling dishes with guidance to increase sales, gastronomic photography and even positioning of brand, among others. Enrollment runs from July 9th to July 31st and can be done through a form.
“Historically, women have occupied kitchens for a long time, not only cooking, but creating and passing on knowledge and gastronomy for generations. Today they are still in the minority when it comes to leadership and recognition in this market – currently in the world, only 5% of chefs in Michelin Star restaurants are women”, says Maria Júlia Casarini, regional marketing coordinator for Ambev in Minas Gerais. “Stella Artois wants to give prominence and visibility to these women in gastronomy. We want to contribute so that more women can conquer their prominent place and make their businesses grow, thriving and sharing their talent with even more people”, she adds.
The idea for the project was born in Belo Horizonte, from the celebration of the Mineira Gastronomy Day, which takes place on July 5th. In addition to having delicacies recognized as Cultural Heritage of Humanity, such as Canastra and Serro cheeses, Minas Gerais cuisine stands out for its leadership of female talents in the kitchen — one of them is chef Bruna Martins, who runs the famous Birosca S2 restaurant in the capital. Ambev’s beer brand maintains a long-standing relationship with the gastronomy universe, especially in partnership with female chefs from different parts of Brazil.
