The project, launched at the end of last year, was created to be a kind of hub with all the actions of Grupo Globo
The LED Movement, a Globo initiative and Roberto Marinho Foundation to give visibility to educational proposals and ideas that are being developed in the country, reached a new phase with the first edition of the LED Festival, and the launch of the ‘LED Community’ platform.
Bringing together more than 100 speakers, including professors, specialists and artists, the event takes place this Friday (8th) and Saturday (9th), at the Museum of Tomorrow and at the Museu de Arte do Rio (MAR), in Rio de Janeiro.
The project, launched at the end of last year, was created to be a kind of hub with all the actions of Grupo Globo focused on education and has advisory support from institutions that lead strategies in the area, such as Porto Digital de Pernambuco, the UNESCO, Unicef, All for Education and Vale do Dendê, in Bahia.
In addition to the arms of finding and rewarding initiatives and the festival, the movement announced the launch of a platform for the education community, the ‘Community Led’, where it intends to gather and organize the initiatives. The idea is that they are transformed into methodologies so that they can be applied in other parts of the country by teachers and other agents interested in contributing to the advancement of education in the country.
“We are no longer thinking only about illuminating ideas, but also about acting as an engine and helping, giving a hand to these initiatives so that they can be amplified”, said Cristovam Ferrara, head of social responsibility at Globo, giving examples of projects that are being gestated in regions far from the large traditional centers.
“We want to build a project that recognizes and leverages the most innovative initiatives in education, remembering that when we talk about innovation we are not talking about technology, but about taking advantage of the creative potential of each one”, he reinforced.
According to João Alegria, secretary general of the Roberto Marinho Foundation, the LED movement materializes the idea of “a single globe”, so it also counts, in addition to FRM and Globo, with the Globo publishing house, from the Educação 360 platform. that the group’s interest in education has always been present and gave as an example the Telecurso 2000, created in 1995. By bringing together various arms and partners, it achieves coverage from different angles.
For him, although the pandemic has shown very ugly scenarios and which society does not like to look at when it comes to education, it has also boosted new projects. “It made room for certain agents to show their full potential. The teachers made the biggest contribution,” he said, adding that Brazil is a hotbed of good and transformative ideas.
