Sunday, July 10th, the 26th edition of the São Paulo International Book Biennial ended. The last event took place in 2018, as the 2020 edition had to be canceled due to restrictions imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic. And, after a long period, the fair that had more than 600 thousand visitors and three million books sold, the subject also moved Twitter, with more than 57,227 mentions of the event, authors and publishers, according to a survey carried out by Knewin among July 1st and 10th.
During the analyzed period, the most used hashtags were: #bienaldolivrosp, #bienaldolivro and #subnabienal. The term “book biennial” appears in 28.2% of the mentions and the peak of mentions happened on July 2nd, the first day of the fair. Among the topics most discussed by the public that day, the main focus was the surprise of people with the large number of visitors present at the place. In addition, the size of the queues was also the reason for many of the comments made on the social network. According to Knewin’s analysis, the lack of organization at the entrance to the biennial and in the division of queues frustrated visitors.
Publishers and Authors
Among the most commented authors, the tweets focused on authors who were present at the Fair in lectures, autograph sessions or meetings with the public such as Pedro Rhuas, Ilze Scamparini and Miram Leitão. The size and attractions of the stands, variety of books available and prices were also highlighted among the comments.
Submarino reached the top of mentions among publishers, thanks to the partnership with DarkSide and Intrinseca, among others, and also to the vast portfolio of guests present at the e-commerce stand, which had more than 25 names.
