Anamid will be led by Rodrigo de Oliveira Neves, re-elected to preside over Abradi-SP and who left with the entire board after not agreeing with the course of the election.
The elections for the new Abradi administration (Brazilian Association of Digital Agents), for the 2020-2022 biennium, turned into a crisis, with accusations, requests for resignation and a new election, disaffiliations and the departure of the entire board of the regional of São Paulo, the most representative state in terms of members.
Since April 28, the date of the general meeting and the vote, history has dragged on. And now, it has gained another chapter with the emergence of a new association to represent the interests of digital companies, Anamid (National Association of the Digital Market and Industry).
In formalization processes, the entity will be led by Rodrigo de Oliveira Neves, CEO and Founder of VitaminaWeb, who had just been re-elected to preside over Abradi-SP and who left with the entire board at the end of June after not agreeing with the directions. of the election, decided by the Administrative Council of Abradi.
That’s because on voting day, the ticket “Abradi Brasil”, led by Carolina Morales, current president of the entity, filed a request to challenge the opposing team, “Nova Abradi”, represented by José Daltro Martins. On the same day, in the election scoreboard, “Abradi Brasil” would receive 76 votes against 183 for “Nova Abradi”.
In the allegation, he argued that Daltro Martins had not proven a link as a partner or representative of a company associated with the entity, something contrary to the provisions of the statute. The professional informed that he belonged to NDI3, which did not respond to the diligence; he then cited another company, PillBiz, a reason that the opposing slate used as an argument to demonstrate a potential irregular maneuver by the candidate, who was until then vice president of the entity.
On the other hand, “Nova Abradi” pointed out that the challenge action should not be accepted because it was carried out outside the stipulated period, 15 days before the election took place.
After replies and rejoinders, it was up to the entity’s Council, composed of 5 members, to decide – 3 to 2 for the challenge of the “Nova Abradi” ticket and for the maintenance of the association’s leadership in the hands of Carolina Morales. The result was considered inadequate and predictable by “Nova Abradi”, which questioned the suspicion of the board members and called for a ‘Chamber of Conciliation and Mediation’ for an ‘impartial analysis of the controversy’.
In addition, the legal firm hired to monitor the electoral process, in view of the imbroglios and the result of the vote, recommended that a new election be held. In the opinion sent to the Council before the definition, lawyer Emerson Franco Menezes wrote: “we advise the declaration of nullity of the Ordinary General Meeting held on 04/28/2022, immediately starting a new electoral process”.
In the final recommendations, he listed four points. First, reject the ‘preliminary of timeliness’ of the challenge presented by the ticket ‘Abradi Brasil’; second, to uphold the challenge presented, in view of the facts and grounds exposed; third, declare the nullity of the entire electoral process; fourth, determine the registration review of the members of the entity, the correct completion of the terms of adhesion and representation with the entity of the professionals who are able to vote and be voted on.
“…conclusively and following the statutory provision, it was not up to the entity to “follow” or “not to follow” the recommendations of the specialized office. declare its decision before the opinion. Five measures were indicated to the Executive Board and the Board of Directors at the end of this opinion and thus, the votes were cast”, argues Morales.
disaffiliations
The decision of June 7 brought more disquiet than tranquility to the association. There were requests for resignation and the release of a manifesto calling for the convening of a general meeting. At the same time, associates began to request disaffiliations from the entity.
By Rodrigo’s accounts, more than 100 companies would have left Abradi. “They didn’t take into account that most members wanted change. Regardless of the process, chapa, they didn’t want the current one to continue”, he says, for whom the process made the companies not “feel represented”.
Abradi’s management presents less expressive numbers. “At the time of the elections, we had 484 associates and last Friday, at a board meeting, we closed the balance with 430. The most impacted region was São Paulo due to the influence of the former regional president in the state”, he says. the president of the entity.
Despite the figure, the movement helped to boost the process for the creation of the new entity, which “was not in the plans”, according to Neves. “The main pillar is democracy, which is guiding all our steps,” he said. For the launch, they looked for a date that would carry a symbolic value, September 15, known as the International Day of Democracy.
He says that in a few more than 15 days they received more than 200 pre-registrations, from more than 70% of the Brazilian states, which brings together both companies coming from Abradi and new interested parties. The idea is for Anamid to bring together individual companies that work with digital, such as consultants, professors and students.
Asked about the competition with the old association, Neves sees a difference between the approaches. “The point is not to fight for space. Our focus is to represent who is with us and listen to people. Our growth will be natural and very intense because I have a lot of energy to spend. We’ll make it happen. Abradi has a head, a management that is completely different from what we want for an association. So, like it or not, deliveries will be different and people will be able to have a choice,” he says.
Competition is positive, says Abradi
For Carolina, “Abradi sees competition as positive for the market, it doesn’t see a problem or a threat. Competition is positive, in the free market, from the point of view of the quality of the services provided to the main customers (which are the members) since one of the main objectives of the entity is to attract the largest number of digital agents participating in the movement” and adds that “hopes to be able to cooperate with the new association (when it is created)”.
On the other hand, it is critical of the actions of dissident leaders. In addition to Rodrigo, they are at the head of the new association Daltro Martins, business director of the PillBiz agency and will be Vice President Vice President of Institutional Relations; Vinicius Melo, CEO of D2B Agency, as Vice President of Expansion; and Silvio Soledade, partner at PlanoGestão and president of APP Brasil, as CFO.
“…it is understood today that the dissident leaders were in search of power at any cost. Even without complying with the statutory requirements for the electoral procedure, they sought through a digital guerrilla and the propagation of disinformation, to weaken the institution’s leadership. And that mission of the opposition continues. When announcing a new Association, former leaders should move forward with their projects and not daily prospect loyal associates to the brand who want to invest their time in projects, benefits and events, among others”.
