Entitled Doce Veneno, the campaign invites the population to take part in the struggle for public policies in favor of improving the quality of life
ACT – Health Promotion, in partnership with the Alliance for Adequate and Healthy Food, launched a campaign to alert the amount of sugar ingested in a single day by a person who has the habit of consuming sugary drinks with meals.
Entitled Sweet Poison, the video warns about the health damage that can be caused by sugar consumption, such as obesity, type 2 diabetes, cancer and cardiovascular disease.
With insertions in digital media, cable TV channels, radios and panels located at strategic points in the country’s main cities, the campaign will invite society to take part in the struggle for public policies to improve the population’s quality of life.
At the top of the proposals, companies are calling for the adoption of differentiated taxes to help mitigate the impact of spending on care for diseases caused by the consumption of soft drinks, juices, etc., and suggest the end of the R$3.8 billion subsidy. granted, per year, to soft drink manufacturers.
The campaign also asks that manufacturers respect the law that comes into force in October this year and which determines that the packaging of products highlight the warnings regarding the amount of sugar, sodium or saturated fats.
In addition, the entities suggest two measures: banning the advertising of food intended for children and the sale of ultra-processed foods in schools.
