Platform has included new expressions in the course of High Valyrian, language spoken in the series that is a spin-off of “Game of Thrones”
Duolingo and HBO Max have partnered for the HBO original series, “House of the Dragon.” The series, which is a prologue to the hit “Game of Thrones”, premieres next Thursday (21).
And to help fans prepare, Duolingo has released an updated course in High Valyrian, the fictional language spoken in the series, with over 150 new words and 700 never-before-seen phrases.
For this, the company says that it worked directly with David Peterson, the linguist who developed the High Valyrian language based on the book series “A Song of Ice and Fire”, by George RR Martin.
To promote the novelty, the company is launching an integrated marketing campaign: the new phrases will be displayed on cryptic billboards in some of the largest cities in the United States, including an iconic space in Times Square, New York.
Mascot Duo will pay a special visit to “House of the Dragon: The Dragon’s Den”, the immersive experience for HBO Max fans at Comic-Con International: San Diego 2022.
