Amazon Prime Video alternates months with major releases with weaker ones. Until this month of August there are some very interesting things. An obvious highlight is Ron Howard’s film, Thirteen Lives – The Rescue. Another is the series A very special team, which is based on the famous 1992 movie. But there are others. Below is a short list of movies and series to watch on streaming.
Thirteen Lives – The Rescue – Trip 5
Everyone must remember that football team from Thailand that got lost in caves that started to flood. Director Ron Howard decided to tell this story in this film. It follows a team made up of the world’s most skilled and experienced divers who join Thai forces and volunteers to try to rescue the twelve boys and their trainer. With few chances and an entire world watching, the group experiences the biggest challenge of their lives. The cast includes Colin Farrell, Joel Edgerton, Viggo Mortensen and Tom Bateman.
A Very Special Team – Journey 12
I really like the 1992 movie, A very special team. It stars Geena Davis, Madonna and Tom Hanks. It told the story of the first women’s baseball championship, held in the 1940s in the United States. They tried to make a series on the subject the following year, but it was a complete failure. It only had a few episodes. And now Amazon is trying again. The main characters are the same as in the movie. During World War II, sisters Dottie and Mae join a women’s baseball team. The entity is founded on the basis of the absence of the men who are serving the country in the global conflict.
the ideal man – Journey 19
Scientist Alma Felser (Maren Eggert) is skeptical. She is reluctant when a company asks her to evaluate a new line of humanoid cyborgs. That way they can know what rights they should have. At first glance, Alma is unwilling to study. But when research funding for her studies at the Berlin Museum dries up, she decides to accept a three-week audition with Tom (Dan Stevens). Maren Eggert who won prize in Berlin. But Dan Stevens is for me the one who shines the most. First, because he speaks perfect German (he is fluent in the language). Ah yes, as the film makes clear, only with a small English accent.
Hunting Ava Bravo – Journey 19
Billionaire sportsman Buddy King relaxes hunting captive humans on his remote mountain estate. But his latest victim, Ava Bravo, is not an easy target. It looks like one of those b movies – maybe C – with stories that we’ve seen in droves. but I was curious. In the cast, Kate Del Castillo (bad boys forever) and Marc Blucas (Buffy – The Vampire Slayer)
Samaritan – Journey 26
Thirteen-year-old Sam Cleary (Javon “Wanna” Walton) suspects that his mysterious, reclusive neighbor Mr. Smith (Sylvester Stallone) is actually a legend hidden in plain sight. Twenty-five years ago, Granite City’s superpowered vigilante Samaritan was presumed dead. This is after a warehouse fire battle with his rival, Nemesis. With crime on the rise and the city on the brink of chaos, Sam makes it his mission to persuade his neighbor to come out of hiding to save the city from ruin. He seems very nice! It is produced by Amazon itself.
Clarice – Season 1 – Journey 26
The season was supposed to premiere on Amazon Prime a few months ago. But now it looks like it will, lol. The series intends to show a dive into the personal and unknown history of FBI agent Clarice Starling. Yes, she herself The Silence of the Lambs. It shows his return to work to pursue serial killers and sexual predators. And he also navigates the high-stakes political world of Washington, DC. The series has not been officially cancelled, but it is in the midst of a dispute between producers. So it is not known if it will continue or not.
