The meeting was expected to bring together the top four in the Ipec (formerly Ibope) or Datafolha election polls from the week prior to the event.
The press vehicles consortium formed by vehicles such as G1, O Globo, Valor, O Estado de S.Paulo, Folha de S.Paulo and UOL announced the suspension this Thursday (11) of a pooled debate between candidates Presidency of the Republic, scheduled for the 14th of September.
The meeting was expected to bring together the top four in the Ipec (formerly Ibope) or Datafolha election polls from the week prior to the event. To happen, it would count on the confirmation of at least three presidential candidates.
As Luiz Incio Lula da Silva (PT) and Jair Bolsonaro (PL), who occupy the first and second positions, respectively, did not commit to participating until 11:59 pm on Wednesday (10), the consortium chose to suspend the debate.
The group regretted what it called “the lack of willingness on the part of the two candidates” and stated that it is open to returning to the table to work with a new date.
The presidential candidates Ciro Gomes (PDT), Leonardo Pricles (UP), Luiz Felipe d’Avila (Novo), Pablo Maral (PROS), Simone Tebet (MDB), Sofia Manzano (PCB), Soraya Thronicke (UB) and Vera Lcia (PSTU) had confirmed participation. José Maria Eymael (DC) did not respond.
