According to a spokesperson heard by the report, all team professionals were impacted, despite not revealing the number of people
LinkedIn has laid off all collaborators on the global events marketing team. The information, released by the American website Business Insider, arises in the face of uncertainties regarding the global economy and layoffs at Microsoft, the company behind the corporate social network, about a week ago.
According to a spokesperson heard by the report, all team professionals were impacted, despite not revealing the number of people. Employees are being encouraged to apply for a new internal area focused on creating virtual, hybrid and face-to-face experiences.
“The space for events has changed so much, and overall, this new team will focus on creating experiences through virtual, hybrid, and in-person to bring people together,” said the executive. From his perspective, layoffs are part of a restructuring process and not a consequence of the macroeconomic environment.
The dismantling can also be seen in a post by Chuck Jones, the platform’s senior event marketing manager. In the message, he comments on the layoffs and tags other companies that could be interested in recruiting the talents of his former team.
“In a difficult time, my entire team was laid off today in
LinkedIn (our last collective day September 9th). Fortunately, there are many new built-in roles that become available that we can apply for and be accelerated through the recruitment process as well as some great internal resources, but the fact is that things like this are never easy.”
Less than a month ago, Microsoft reported that LinkedIn had 26% more revenue than the previous year and had recorded “record engagement” among its more than 850 million members.
It seems not to have been enough to maintain the structure, in a scenario in which many technology companies have reduced staff or informed that they intend to reduce the pace of hiring.
