The character’s first appearance took place in ‘Al Amigos’, in which Z receives Donald Duck in Brazil
It was on August 24, just like today, that Z Carioca was officially presented, in 1942, in Rio de Janeiro. The character appeared in the movie ‘Al Amigos’, which featured Z Carioca welcoming Donald Duck during his trip to Brazil.
Inspired by the Brazilian people, the character went from the big screen to the comics, in which he appeared living in the hills of Rio de Janeiro, eating feijoada and playing football. In October of the same year, Z Carioca ended up in American newspapers, which began to publish his stories on Sundays.
And to mark eight decades of the character, Disney will take some action over the next 12 months. The first is the release of the song ‘Os Zs do Brasil’ in honor of the character, scheduled for early September, composed by Leandro Lehart and sung by Xande de Pilares.
Another Disney bet are the launched themed collections of licensed products from brands such as Água de Coco, Renner, Farm, Colorama, Pernambucanas, Havaianas, among others.
Special content, filters and stickers will also be available on Disney Brazil’s social networks, in addition to new comics and the book ‘O essential do Z Carioca: celebrating the 80th anniversary of its debut’.
