Good to Game (GTG), V3A’s games and eSports vertical, in partnership with Player1 Gaming Group, Grupo Globo’s games and eSports spin-off, announces MEG, Multiplataform eSports Games, a competitive esports event that will bring together beginners and high-performance athletes from 34 Latin American countries.
The in-person finals of the event will take place on October 22 and 23, at Arena Carioca 1, stage of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, with 8 hours of live broadcast on Sportv, in addition to official channels.
MEG proposes an immersive journey in the sports scene of console, PC and mobile devices, uniting competitive universes in one place. With the participation of great teams and invited athletes, MEG 2022 offers more than 500 thousand reais in prizes and has 8 modalities in its framework: CSGO (open and female), Fortnite, Dota 2, eFootball Mobile, Brawl Stars, Clash Royale, Tekken 7 and Starcraft II.
Dalmo Castello Filho, CEO of GTG, comments:
“MEG came to expand and be the center of the eSports scene in Latin America. Making a parallel with the Olympic and Pan American Games, the MEG will have several modalities in the same event, bringing together the great stars and discovering new stars of electronic sports. We were born with the aim of generating a sense of belonging in the community of each game, allowing fans to live the experience of competing in the same tournament as their idols.”
Divided into three stages, two online and one in person, the MEG starts with the Open phase, open to the general public, and goes on to the playoffs, which receive outstanding teams and athletes from each modality, until reaching the finals. MEG provides more than 70 hours of online broadcasts, in Portuguese and Spanish, on the project’s channels (YouTube and Twitch).
Among the tournament’s communication actions, the event features informative and entertainment content in various formats on Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Discord and Twitch, with the participation of major influencers to enhance conversations with the public and engagement.
Leandro Valentim, CEO of Player1 Gaming Group, says:
“Esports are constantly evolving in Brazil and Latin America, and MEG is another big step in the development of this scenario. The tournament is already strong, as an evolution of WESG Latam, expanding games and platforms, bringing relevant competitions and focusing on a direct connection with the community, both in the amateur and professional layers.”
Hosted by GTG and Player1 Gaming Group, MEG is presented by Oi, sponsored by Legion by Lenovo and TNT Energy Drink, and supported by Snickers, Dreamies and APC by Schneider Electric.
According to Livia Marquez, Director of Communication and Media at Oi:
“Once again, Oi reinforces its support and investment in the gamer universe, which grows every year. Together with our Oi Fibra service, we promote high-performance connections and help to increase the cultural revolution that digital games provide, the greater the diversity of players, the better for the growth of the eSports modality.”
