The mentoring aims to bring professionals who already work in leadership positions closer to black professionals who want to accelerate their careers.
WMcCann launched a mentoring project for black people at the agency. The initiative was born from the Goma Mentoring Hub Project created by the Board of Clients of Meta and EmpregueAfro and is part of the agency’s actions to increase ethnic-racial diversity in leadership positions.
Goma is a fundamental initiative of the career acceleration pillar, ensuring that they develop and occupy more leadership positions in the agency, evaluated Hugo Rodrigues, chairman of McCann Worldgroup for WMcCann, Craft Brasil and Aldeiah. Currently, WMcCann has 27% black professionals and 11% in leadership roles.
At WMcCann, the Goma program will include periodic sessions between mentees and mentors with the aim of bringing professionals who already work in leadership positions together with black professionals who want to accelerate their careers.
These are initiatives that reinforce our public commitment to the topic and that improve the professional environment for everyone. Inclusion goals are important, but retaining and developing talent also depends on them feeling listened to, respected and valued in a safe space, said Paula Molina, HR director at WMcCann.
The launch took place with a lecture by Patrcia Santos, CEO of EmpregueAfro, with the theme Consciousness and Whiteness and the date was also marked by the launch of the new Diversity and Inclusion policy and a new reception channel, to provide direct listening and support to employees who belong to historically minority groups.
The reception channel is one of the ideas that emerged within the affinity groups of the WMcCann social collective. We understand the importance of creating an exclusive and dedicated space, so that employees feel encouraged and safe, added Mirtes Reis, specialist in Diversity and Inclusion at WMcCann.
