A etermax Brand Gamificationdivision of etermax that creates powerful connections through games, presents its second white paper on International Gamer Day, called “Who are we when we play?” that explores people’s predispositions when playing games.
The material answers questions like: what happens when we play? How does this affect us physically and psychologically? What is our emotional state when we are playing?
Juan Pablo Veiga, VP of Business Planning & Operations da Etermax Brand GamificationExplain:
“Gaming has an impact on our mental state: we relax, focus and feel happier because of the stimulation we receive from video games. In this way, we generate connections with other people, from communities, and with ourselves, through the level of endorphins that are released in the body.”
In recent years, it has become even clearer that people need to be connected and in contact with others, and it is necessary to overcome the prejudice that video games are for lonely people and that socially alienate us. They truly encourage the creation of communities and give a sense of belonging to those who are part of them. Among the data exposed in the white paper, the social aspect is highlighted as one of the main motivations for gamers to play: 84% think that games can bring people with similar interests together, 74% of parents play with their children and 42% met a friend intimate partner or a partner for games.
Elsewhere, data from a survey conducted by the Oxford Internet Institute, University of Oxford, positively relates video games to mental and emotional health, especially if users’ well-being is taken into account when designing the game. The survey shows that 39% of users say games help them drive problem solving and encourage strategic thinking.
At the same time, 72% of users say they work better in gamified environments and 81% consider that this type of atmosphere helps to build a sense of belonging. This allows brands and organizations to design gamified actions to reach their audience and create a close bond.
In this context, the video game universe continues to create challenging expectations and open the door to countless opportunities, both for users and for brands and organizations that want to reach the public in an innovative, efficient and fun way.
