Rui Mendona will replace Miguel Gularte and his mission will be to continue the work developed in the last four years
Marfrig announced the election of Rui Mendona as the new CEO of its South America Operation, which comprises the markets of Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay and Chile.
Mendona will replace Miguel Gularte, who, after just over four years at the helm of the operation, assumes the executive presidency of BRF, a company controlled by Marfrig, on October 1.
The new CEO’s mission will be to continue the work developed over the last four years by Miguel Gularte, with a focus on increasing productivity and operational excellence. In the second quarter of 2022, the South America Operation recorded net revenue of R$7.1 billion, with annual growth of 41.6%. The Ebitda margin was 9.5% (an increase of 594 bps compared to the same period in 2021).
Marfrig’s progress is an achievement shared with each employee at each of our production units. As has been done so far, I will work very closely with the units and their communities so that, together, we can make Marfrig an increasingly efficient company, respected and admired by all those with whom we interact, said Mendona.
A mechanical engineer graduated from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, with a postgraduate degree in Agribusiness Management, Mendona has a career spanning more than 40 years in the beef sector, having worked in Brazil and abroad in multinational companies.
The executive became part of Marfrig’s executive staff, when he commanded the Hulha Negra/Pampeano unit and led the industrial, logistics and meat-packing areas of Marfrig Brasil. In 2017, he assumed the position of director of processed products at Marfrig America do Sul and between 2018 and 2022, the share of the processed products business in Marfrig South America’s total revenue increased from 5% to 15%.
