Campaign an initiative of the couple, which would you like encourage awareness about the symptoms of the disease
In January of this year, the couple Tiago Leifert and Diana Garbin came to the public to talk about the diagnosis of their daughter Lua, then 11 months old: bilateral retinoblastoma. Two tumors, one in each eye, affecting the retinal area. It is the most common eye cancer in childhood and 90% of cases affect children between 0 and 5 years old.
Tiago and Daiana discovered retinoblastoma when it was already at an advanced stage. What I would like most is to be surfing the internet (…) and to have had access to a video of a couple telling what is happening to their daughter.
Today, a year after the journalist couple received the most difficult news of their lives, they decided to launch the ‘De Olho nos Olhinhos’ campaign, which will have both a face-to-face and an online aspect.
The face-to-face meeting will take place on September 17, Saturday, from 10 am to 4 pm at Parque do Ibirapuera and will be attended by volunteer doctors who will be available to answer questions about retinoblastoma.
Two tents will be set up with information for parents and family members, who will be able to better understand the main signs and symptoms, how early diagnosis can be made, how to do the flash test (a simple test done with a cell phone that can save lives ), among other clarifications.
In addition, during the next few days, Daiana will perform lives on her Instagram channel (@garbindaiana) interviewing doctors, and the couple will publish a digital booklet that can be shared by cell phone.
