Procon-SP announced that it has notified Nestl Brasil and that it has asked for explanations about some items that the company is putting on the market, such as the Condensed Milk Mixture, Milk Whey and Starch MOA and the Moa Milk Cream Mixture and Cream De Leite Original Moa and the original versions of these products.
According to the agency, the new versions are marketed in a presentation that is very similar to the traditional versions and can confuse the consumer. The entity also informed that it is attentive to the increase in the offer of products similar to the traditional ones and presented to the public in very similar packages, which can mislead consumers. The company has until the 26th of September to send the answers.
In addition to Nestl, 10 other companies in the dairy sector have already received notifications, such as Vigor, Itamb, Laticnios Trevo, Gran Foods and Ibituruna. According to the agency, the answers have started to arrive and are under analysis.
Among Nestl’s questions, Procon wants to know the characteristics of each product, detailing the nutritional differences and individualized indications for consumption of each one. Nestl must also submit documents such as reports, publicity materials and media.
Other requests are related to the percentages of each of the ingredients and an empty package (template) of each form of presentation (boxes and labels) as they are made available to the consumer. And also documents that prove the authorization to commercialize the products and also the quality tests carried out.
