Project, in partnership with operators Claro, Oi, TIM and Vivo, has voice coverage and 4G connection in tunnels, mezzanines and platforms on lines 1, 2 and 4
MetrRio, in partnership with operators Claro, OI, TIM and Vivo, activated the new telecommunications network throughout its system on lines 1, 2 and 4, in Rio de Janeiro.
The initiative provides more than 30 km of fiber optic connection via cable, which guarantees improvements in signal quality in closed environments and expansion of 4G coverage for cell phones throughout the subway system.
Improving our customers’ experience is an ongoing process. Having the entire system connected, thanks to a partnership with telephone operators, is a big step: an important convenience that we offer to our customers, said Guilherme Ramalho, president of MetrRio.
The network’s Distributed Antenna System (DAS) included the installation of new antennas, cables, receivers and transmitters, which, when connected to the operators’ communication base, made it possible to expand the signal for mobile telephony, both for calls and access. Internet.
The transmission of the network is done through the passage of shared cable by the telecommunication operators in the underground areas of the metro. In all, more than 600 radio frequency antennas and cables were installed at stations and tunnels.
The technology also interconnects the remote sectors with the mezzanines and platforms of the stations through transmission equipment and radiofrequency irradiation to increase the range of telephony signal coverage.
