The decision was made public one day after FIFA issued a statement banning the sale of the drink inside the World Cup stadiums.
Budweiser took a decision after banning the sale of beers in World Cup stadiums in Qatar. The company will present the champion of the championship with the stock of beer that was intended for the event.
The decision was shared by the official profile of the brand on Twitter one day after FIFA announced the ban on sales. “New day, new Tweet. The winning country keeps the Buds. Who will get them?”, asked the brand.
According to Fifa, the decision will not impact sales of Bud Zero, the brand’s non-alcoholic beer, which may be sold in stadiums during competition games.
“Host country authorities and FIFA will continue to ensure that the stadiums and surrounding areas provide an enjoyable, respectful and enjoyable experience for all fans. The tournament organizers appreciate AB InBev’s understanding and continued support of our joint commitment to cater to everyone during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022”, explained the statement from the institution.
Despite the explanation, the opening game of the World Cup, played by Ecuador and Qatar, was marked by the demonstration of South American fans, who asked for the drink.
Drink consumption is restricted to the spaces of the FIFA Fan Festival, which will broadcast the games in the midst of concerts and local cultural activities.
