2021 was a year full of events and, once again, with a lot of use of the digital medium. Google has released a list of terms most sought after by Brazilians during the year, and we have separated some categories for you to check:
Google Searches of the Year
According to Google, during 2021, in general, the words most searched for by Brazilians were related to the early death of country singer Marília Mendonça, in November.

What?
The terms with the question “what” at the beginning show the curiosity of Brazilians with terms and events. The word “cringe” boomed, dividing Generation Z and the Millennials into what might or might not be considered shameful. “Basculho” was the word that ex-BBB, Gil do Vigor, used while discussing with another participant in the program, Pocah.

events
In events, Google shows us that among the most researched subjects were the 2021 Olympics, held in Japan, the COVID-19 vaccine that was long-awaited by Brazilians, and the fall of WhastApp. In addition, the Henry Borel and Lázaro cases also appeared in high demand in the search engine.

Music (Lyrics)
Lyrics were also not lacking in the searches. Leading the way was ‘Girl from Rio’, by Anitta, followed by ‘Estrelinha’, in honor of Marília Mendonça, and ‘Batom de Cereja’, a hit by ex-BBB Rodolffo. Also, ‘God Protect Me From Me’, performed by Juliette Freire it also brought out the original lyrics of the song and, in the international category, Olivia Rodrigo’s ‘Drivers License’ was the most sought after.
