A Digital Art Biennialthat even January 22 will occupy the four floors of Oi Futuro, in Rio de Janeiro, focusing on the alignment between art and technology. In partnership with the digital artist Pug Club Gang author of collections of NFTs of the famous dog “Pug”, Bienal offers free NFTs for the public to collect. In all, there will be 10,000 NFTs, each with different characteristics. It will be like owning a digital image for use on social networks, for example. These images are totally unique, created on the blockchain exclusively for each owner, who will now have a digital wallet (wallet) with the NFT (token). The launch of the Bienal collection is today, November 25th.
Under avatar format, the NFTs have multiple themes in support of the diversity of bodies, genders and sexualities. Through official site ( and the Biennial Discord, those interested will be able to check the instructions on how to mint their NFT, which may contain LGBTQIA+, indigenous, racial or related themes to the universe of art, characters from the city of Rio de Janeiro or digital culture. There will also be randomly awarded NFTs that will yield exclusive gifts for the lucky ones who find them and can pick up the gifts at Oi Futuro in Rio. One of them, among 10 thousand NFTs, will give access to the Pug Club Gung community with exclusive benefits. ??
According to the developers Carioca NFT (Gabriel) and the Artist Pug Club Gung, the idea, in addition to being fun, has an educational character: “We want to help people to have a digital wallet on the web, create their place in the blockchain and include themselves in this universe”.
WHAT IS THE DIGITAL ART BIENNIAL?
Held in 2018 in Rio and Belo Horizonte with an audience of over 70,000 people, the Digital Art Biennial was promoted by FAD, sponsored by Oi and culturally supported by Oi Futuro. The program featured artists from Brazil, Chile, China, Spain, the United States, Italy, Mexico and the United Kingdom, presenting exhibitions, performances and symposia with the theme “Hybrid Languages”. The Bienal’s proposal is to become a national digital art agenda and show works and exhibitions that reflect important social themes every two years, showing that art enables technology to display its social experiences.
