Vans Skateboarding has announced a partnership with team rider Elijah Berle on a signature Skate Half Cab style in honor of the silhouette’s 30th anniversary. Influenced by Elijah’s passion for classic tattoo art, motorcycle culture, retro surfing and mid-century fashion, the collection is elevated with custom embroidery and artwork and nods to Elijah’s iconic style and the staying power of the shoe. most influential skater in history.
Known in the skateboarding community for his all-terrain prowess and precise control, Elijah’s natural skill on a skateboard combined with his relentless work ethic has earned him a place in the upper echelon of skateboarding, while staying true to his roots and providing tribute to those who came before him. It’s only fitting that Vans gave Elijah the reins this season to put a spin on the Skate Half Cab with a unique Khaki/Black colorway for the future generation of skateboarding.
Born out of necessity in 1992, skaters created the original Half Cab by cutting high tops into custom skate shoes. With nothing but scissors and duct tape, they unknowingly built the world’s greatest skate shoe. Three decades later, the Half Cab is still one of the most trusted and recognizable shoes in skateboarding.
The Elijah Berle Skate Half Cab colorway features a barbed wire design on the suede heel, original Half Cab logo patches on the upper and tongue, and Elijah’s name printed on the sockliner. Reinforced DURACAP™ materials and tread depth extend the shoe’s lifespan, and an energy-returning PopCush™ sockliner ensures legs stay cool. The collection also features two additional Vans Skate Classics: the Elijah Berle Skate Old Skool in black with white embroidered barbed wire on the sidestripe and flames on the toe vamp; and the Skate Sk8-Hi Decon in black with a variety of removable patches.
Elijah’s design inspiration extends to a collection of apparel that infuses his Southern California style into a few key pieces, including the Elijah Berle Carpenter Pant in Black with White Flame accents, a Black Long Sleeve T-Shirt with Wire barbed sleeves, front chest detailing, a black woven short-sleeved shirt with flame detailing on the collar and custom Vans patch on the chest, and a color block hat with embroidered artwork complete the collection.
A part of the Vans Skateboarding team since 2010, Elijah has continually progressed in the sport with his bold style on and off the board. With countless accolades to his name, Elijah’s influential style has earned him a 2010 Tampa Am Winner and 2012 Skateboard Mag’s Years Best Am, as well as a three-time Thrasher King of the Road Alumni. More recently, he received top billing in Vans’ latest skate movie, “Alright OK.” With his latest collection and signature Skate Half Cab, Elijah continues to cement his place in skateboarding history.
