On a historic day and in honor of Mbappé, the world’s biggest VALORANT tournament for university students defined, this Wednesday (14), the 16 teams qualified for the Round of 16 of the Red Bull Campus Clutch.
Northwood (United States), Jordani (Slovenia), Narodni Garda (Czech Republic), DNC Gamers (New Zealand), OBK (North Macedonia), Team Mystic (Pakistan), Viva Hollandia (Netherlands), Condorito (Chile), 07 (Canada), Black Team (Poland), Team Raad (Egypt), Casa Noturna (Great Britain), Batagor (Indonesia), Nitrous Gaming (Peru), Esp Esport (Denmark) and Quartetodos5 (Portugal) advanced to the next round. Despite falling behind, Team Eclipse, from the Dominican Republic, became the first team to have a woman as captain in the official lineup in this international stage: young Chamilla Canela, a Psychology student.
Considered as a favorite, Brazil was very close to the classification. Against the Czech Republic, it was winning by seven rounds of difference in the CT, but took the turn and lost by 18 to 16. Added to the defeat against New Zealand, the green-and-yellow team was in third place. Sweden, famous for its fps skill, also fell in its bracket. Argentina, Germany, Spain, Mexico and even France, which honored the player Mbappé throughout the competition, are other nations that fell by the wayside.
With the right to fans in the stands of Pavilhão Pacaembu, the classified teams will face the round of 16 and quarterfinals, this Thursday (15). On Friday (16), the Red Bull Campus Clutch will hold the semis and the big decision. In addition, the public will be able to watch a spectacular showmatch: the female lineup of G2, with names like Maryam ‘Mary’ Maher and Michaela ‘mimi’, faces FURIA streamers, like Karina Takahashi, Paula Nobre and Gabriela Freindorfer.
The world champion team will win €20,000 and a VIP experience on the VALORANT Champions Tour 2023. In 2022, the Red Bull Campus Clutch will also have global partnerships with Intel NUC, SteelSeries, AGON by AOC and Backforce. Check out all the countries participating in the competition below:
