The company has until the 17th to respond to the agency about the impacts on consumers
Procon-SP notified Americanas this Friday (13th), after the BRL 20 billion shortfall. The news surfaced last Wednesday (11th), through a material fact, when the company communicated to shareholders and the market that it had detected an ‘accounting inconsistency’.
In addition to the billionaire gap, the retailer also announced the resignations of the company’s CEO, Sergio Rial, and CFO, André Covre. Both executives had been sworn in on January 2nd and had been in office for less than ten days.
Based on this, Procon-SP questioned the impacts on consumers. The defense body said that the company should clarify whether the complaints of the last 90 days on the Procon-SP platform are related to the reported problems and, if so, what is the company’s plan of action for a solution.

Last year, according to Procon-SP, the group had nearly 9,500 complaints filed by consumers who had problems with their purchases.
