A columnist for O Globo stated that the company should file for judicial recovery
Americanas is considering the possibility of filing for judicial recovery after declaring a debt of BRL 40 billion to the courts, double the amount of the debt that the retailer announced last Wednesday. The information was published by Lauro Jardim, columnist for O Globo.
In the note, Jardim says that the judge of the 4th Business Court of Rio de Janeiro, Paulo Assed, granted an urgent precautionary measure requested by Americanas. With that, as stated in the column, the company does not run the risk of blockages, kidnapping or attachment of company assets.
The judge gave Americanas a period of 30 days to file for judicial recovery, if deemed necessary. Lauro Jardim says that this is the path taken by the retailer.
Last Wednesday (11), Americanas reported a BRL 20 billion shortfall and, consequently, the resignations of the company’s CEO, Sergio Rial, and CFO, André Covre, both executives having been sworn in on January 2 and they had been performing their duties for less than ten days.
Also this Friday, earlier, Procon-SP notified Americanas and gave the company a period of four days to respond about the impacts of the financial gap on consumers.
During the afternoon, the retailer released another statement about its withdrawal from being part of the BBB 23 sponsorship board. .
In its place, the Free Market entered. The contract, according to the brand, includes participation in tests and routine activities of the program, such as parties and specific actions.
