With the aim of giving the general public an idea of what it is like to live with anxiety, real reports from the Instagram profile Post em Branco (@post.branco) were inserted in the entry for the word ANSIETY in the Michaelis dictionary, bringing situations of people who deal with with this difficulty on a daily basis. Through these statements, the reality of anxiety and the feelings inherent to a crisis are explained. The intention is to contribute to a future with fewer taboos and bring more information regarding mental health to society. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), Brazil is the country with the highest rate of people with anxiety disorders in the world; there are almost 20 million citizens.
The idea for the partnership came from publicist Daniel Portuga, creator of Blank post, and diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD). “We cannot trivialize what anxiety is, people have different stories and therefore, each one has their own explanation of how they deal with their anguish on a daily basis. Nothing more sincere and inclusive than putting these very genuine testimonials in the dictionary to help explain the perception of anxiety”explains Portugal.
“In this way, we bring a more human side to the Michaelis dictionary, presenting real unedited accounts in a totally informative and creative way. Thus, we open a new channel of information about mental health.” Complements Talita Zanqueta, from the marketing team at Editora Melhoramentos.
