The Government of So Paulo’s Creative Economy Program wants, among other things, to attract foreign investment to the state
Registration for CreativeSP, the creative economy internationalization program, ends this Friday (10). From the Secretariat for Culture and Creative Economy of the State of So Paulo, the program aims to boost the international exchange of São Paulo companies in the sector and attract foreign investment to the state.
The destination will be SXSW, a creative economy event focused on topics such as cinema, music, technology and innovation, to be held between March 10th and 19th, in Austin, United States. The program is the result of a partnership between InvestSP – the state’s investment promotion agency – and the Secretariat for Culture and Creative Economy. The action has an investment for this semester of R$ 1.385 million from the government of the state of So Paulo.
CreativeSP, according to the secretary, will select up to ten companies from São Paulo, which will have a maximum reimbursement of US$ 3 thousand, in eligible expenses, to cover up to 50% of the expenses with the trip. The organization also claims that participants may have access to training, consulting, advisory, monitoring of results and post-event follow-up actions.
In 2022, the program took 73 companies to nine international events focused on entertainment, technology, cinema, games, music, literature, visual arts and design. Among them, SXSW itself, the Cannes Film Festival, in France, and the Frankfurt Book Fair, in Germany. The participants had contact with more than two thousand possible partners, from around 100 countries. The result should be, in a period of up to one year, the generation of almost R$ 360 million in business and up to 6.6 thousand jobs in the cultural sector of São Paulo.
For 2023, in addition to SXSW, two other secretariat programs have already been confirmed: GDC (Game Developers Conference), in the United States, and the Cannes Film Festival, in France. In all cases, companies and institutions headquartered in So Paulo need to present a history of the organization and the representative chosen for the mission, a text about how the event can contribute to the organization’s activities and a strategic plan for the international market.
