According to the app, the idea was born from data shown by the platform, which is that the number of active users drops by almost 10% on feast days.
Duo, Duolingo’s mascot, has already reserved the days of Carnival to enjoy the revelry in the blocks in So Paulo. But the best word, perhaps, is not ‘enjoy’. That’s because the Duo is on the streets to follow (closely) their students.
The app’s action was thought of based on data from the platform itself, which noted that, during the holidays, the number of active users in Brazil drops by around 10%.
On the last pre-Carnaval weekend, the Duo made surprise appearances in the blocks in downtown So Paulo and will be at events on Artur de Azevedo and Augusta streets during Carnival.
“Duolingo is becoming more and more popular among Brazilians, and we couldn’t be left out of one of the most important cultural moments in the country. That’s why we decided to send our little owl Duo, which in a fun way will motivate students to don’t give up on studying a language even during Carnival”, says Analigia Martins, Duolingo’s marketing director in Brazil.
