Considered the biggest multi-sport student championship in Brazil, Liga Esportiva NESCAU announces squad of 2023 athlete-ambassadors and new itinerant versions of the event throughout the country.
The NESCAU Sports League has already impacted the lives of more than 45,000 children and adolescents, in addition to 5,000 teachers, with the participation of around 1,500 institutions from all corners of the country. Last year alone, the initiative provided 510 hours of sports practice, with 35 sports options, including modalities, workshops and challenges.
With the commitment to reach over 35,000 people this year, ensuring 52% female participation and 7% disabled children and adolescents (a percentage that represents more than triple the PWD portion of this age group in the Brazilian population, according to the last Census), the NESCAU Sports League® 2023 presents a strong list of ambassadors, 12 names of great importance in Brazilian sport: Rayssa Leal (skateboard), Falcão (futsal), Flavia Saraiva (gymnastics), Verônica Hipólito (paralympic athletics), Etiene Medeiros (swimming), Julia Rosado (football), Sophia Medina (surfing), Daniel Amorim, Amorinha (skateboarding), Daniel Dias (paralympic swimming), Bboy Luan San (breaking), Raissa Rocha Machado (paralympic athletics) and Gean Sampaio (physical education).
Gabriela Guerreiro, Head of Beverages at Nestlé Brazil, says:
“For 90 years present in the lives of Brazilians, NESCAU has become synonymous with unmistakable flavor and nutrition. But our purpose goes further: from all the reach and proximity that such a beloved brand has, we want to mobilize society to make a difference in the lives of children and adults. That’s why sport is our banner. He invites self-knowledge, respect for others and recognition of one’s own limits, in addition to breaking down physical and emotional barriers; all through fun and fairness. Sport empowers children and families. And Liga becomes the main enabler of this union between involvement and diversity: accessible and inclusive, it imprints the construction of continuous value for the brand through a solid commitment to people’s present and future. We know that our cause goes beyond the fields and courts, because the social impact is transformative.”
Rayssa Leal, ambassador of the NESCAU Sports League, says:
“When I was younger, my dream was to meet my idols, especially Letícia Bufoni, and be like them. And today it’s really cool to see that I’m an inspiration for girls and boys. I am happy to encourage them to practice sports, especially skateboarding, to become friends and learn that it is possible to dream and achieve. And the NESCAU League® it’s about that, showing that children and young people can practice sports, learn and have fun.”
The League’s calendar for 2023 has already started, since February, with activations at points of sale in dozens of cities in the country and which promise to remain in operation until December, offering goal kicking, minigolf and other reduced versions of sports for the public. This is a way of presenting the sport and its diversity to young Brazilians.
Another great novelty this year are the Mini Leagues, which will tour cities such as Araras, in the interior of São Paulo, Imperatriz, in Maranhão, and Recife, in Pernambuco. Thus, NESCAU helps to rescue the value of sport and the importance of making it desirable and accessible among the new generations, so impacted by the deprivation of sports imposed by isolation during the pandemic of the last two years.
The League’s great multi-sport competition, as well as the Summit, an event aimed at physical education professionals, is scheduled for September, in São Paulo.
