The Brazilian Association of Advertising Agencies (ABAP) elects last week, the new national executive board for the biennium 2023/2025. Marcia Esteves, CEO and Partner of Lew’Lara\TBWA was elected national president, along with vice presidents Adriana Machado (Tom Comunicação), Antonio Fadiga (Artplan) and Edu Simon (Galeria). On the occasion, the new members of ABAP’s regional boards were also announced (full list below).
Marcia points out:
“We are going to build bridges to unite the agencies through common objectives and we will count on the participation of more agencies from all over Brazil.”
The new president takes office in June and during this period will work, together with Mario D’Andrea, in the transition process. The work encompasses the continuation of actions in progress and the hiring of a consultancy to look at the entity’s governance and listen to agencies and partners for the construction of the strategic management plan. Marcia still completes:
“In recent years, Abap has had an intense activity with other institutions, building bridges abroad. It was a very important role, with projects, initiatives and institutional debates in defense of our sector. Now, we want to listen to the entire market, associations, vehicles and regions to structure the plan and define the best strategy for the future.”
Created more than 70 years ago, ABAP defends and promotes the interests of Brazilian agencies associated with the communication industry. Along this path, it has played a leading role in the sector’s main events: it inspired Law 4680/65, known as the Propaganda Law; contributed to the approval of Law 12,232, which regulates the criteria for public tenders; and collaborated in the creation of the National Advertising Self-Regulation Council (Conar), the Executive Council for Standard Norms (CENP) and the Communication Verifier Institute (IVC), among other initiatives.
