Ford introduced the new electric Explorer that goes on sale at the end of the year in Europe, the first of a new wave of electrified models that will be launched in that market. To promote the vehicle, the brand will recreate the journey of the pioneer Aloha Wanderwellm, who one hundred years ago became the first woman to travel around the world, breaking barriers. Between 1922 and 1927, she toured 43 countries driving a Model T Ford—the car that put the world on wheels—on a trip partially sponsored by Ford.
The new expedition will be led by travel and adventure influencer Lexie Alford, known to millions of fans online as Lexie Limitless, starting later this year. She will travel around the world in the new electric Ford Explorer, overcoming challenges, meeting people from different cultures and visiting places of great beauty.

Lexie broke the record for the youngest person to visit every country in the world at age 21. Now, she continues to explore the wonders of the planet and encourages others to do the same, with the same curiosity and rebellious attitude as Wanderwell. Ford supports her on this 21st century journey that paves the way for a new generation of modern and sustainable explorers, showing what an electric vehicle can do.
Lexie Alford, diz:
“The story of Aloha Wanderwell is particularly inspiring for female travelers, but it actually encourages everyone to push their boundaries and explore new places. I’m excited to follow in the footsteps of this legendary pioneer, showing what the future of electric travel could look like. There will be a lot of obstacles and challenges, but that’s part of the fun of the trip and I’ll document it all online.”
The new futuristic-styled SUV is packed with smart connectivity, driver assistance and comfort technologies, including a massage driver’s seat. Its 15-inch central screen is movable and also gives access to a hidden compartment in the dashboard. In addition to ample luggage space under the hood, it features a 17-litre console compartment capable of accommodating a laptop. Your battery can replenish from 10% to 80% of its charge in just 25 minutes.
In Aloha’s Footsteps
Aloha Wanderwell was an explorer, filmmaker, wife and mother. She began her journey around the world at the age of 16 and visited places no western man or woman had seen before.
Wanderwell’s daring voyage began in Nice, France, and ended with the return from the port of Kilindini, Kenya. Along the journey, she had to adapt to several challenges, such as replacing gasoline with kerosene and using mashed bananas as grease to lubricate the vehicle.
Lexie’s adventures can be followed later this year by Link, Link and Link, in addition to her Instagram and YouTube channels.
