Do you know in which country the first World Cup was played? And how many meters tall is Christ the Redeemer? Or what is the exact distance from São Paulo to the Sagrada Familia Basilica in Barcelona? Starting next Monday, January 17th, these and other questions will be answered in the 1001 Questions, a new Band program that airs from Monday to Friday at 10:30 pm. under the command of Zeca Camargo, The game show celebrates pop culture in the most fun and relaxed way audiences have ever seen.
“We have renewed the ways of asking questions, of playing with emotion and, above all, of making a game so that viewers can also participate. We bet on a faster dynamic, very connected to pop culture and the subjects that are on social networks. Viewers will not only see content linked to the traditional news or an encyclopedia”, says Zeca.
In each edition, the presenter receives three pairs who will put their general knowledge to the test. But just knowing the answer is not enough. You need to have quick thinking, intuition and strategic ability to do well in the dispute. Sports, music, cinema, television, literature, tourism, customs, animals, politics, arts and inventions are among the topics covered. “Let’s get out of the traditional question-and-answer competition. We will have the Brazilian people represented in the participants. The pairs will be here to have fun in some way, because what matters most is that they have a good time with their family and that the people at home also feel that they can participate”, he emphasizes. Ignacio Iglesias, program director.
The pairs, who already have a relationship with each other, face each other with the objective of accumulating the highest number of points. “We are concerned not to make a monotonous show. We devised more than one way to test people’s knowledge. We will have questions with four answer options, but others where you will need to use reasoning, a little guessing and even intuition. It’s a very accessible game. You don’t have to be a genius to participate”, guarantees the presenter.
One of the highlights of the attraction is the presence of the journalist Carla Bigatto, anchor of BandNews FM radio. She will be the voice of the program and will interact with the host helping with explanations, as well as bringing curiosities about the topics discussed in a playful way. “She is the one who puts the logistics to work, but at the same time is completely free to comment and play with the participants. I lift the ball and it cuts, which has been very successful”, praises Zeca Camargo.
According to the journalist, the invitation to debut on television came as a pleasant surprise. “My TV debut right now is a gift. I can say that I’m having a lot of fun. My role in the original format would be to be a kind of Alexa, inspired by voice assists, something a little technological. But because I like to make fun of situations and have some insights, my participation goes beyond that. I spice up the program. I bring the answers to the challenges, the curiosities and a hint of humor, as this is my strongest vein”, he explains.
The pair with the lowest score is eliminated, while the one with the highest number of answers takes home BRL 20,000 and continues to compete on subsequent days, with other opponents, to increase the prize pool.

Preliminary stage
Correct answer
Classics from TV game shows, “Resposta Certa” opens the program and warms up the engines for what lies ahead. Six categories appear on the screen and, behind each of them, there is a question and four alternatives, only one of which is correct. The questions come with playful names. Thus, instead of “sports, music, arts or celebrities”, the idea is to play with the content of the question and, sometimes, confuse the participants.
A question about the time when Neto played for Corinthians, for example, may be hidden under the name of “Orelhudo” (alluding to a term in the presenter’s repertoire). But, the duo that comes across this name, hardly associates it directly to the theme, boosting the fun.
odometer
In this game, all pairs play at the same time. They must guess the distance from the Band door to anywhere on the planet: a museum, a monument, a city, a waterfall, a building, a stadium, etc. It can be the distance by land (and then the journey through streets and roads is taken into account) or by air (in a straight line).
Six categories appear on the screen and, after one of them is chosen, the point is revealed and the clock starts to run. During this time, Zeca Camargo gives some tips. Armed with tablets, competitors mentally calculate the possible distance and record their guesses on the equipment within the proposed time. Whoever comes closest wins. If any pair hits the exact distance, they earn even more points.
15 Names
Again, six categories appear on the screen. The duo choose one of them and 15 photos are shown sequentially. The challenge is to say the name or nickname by which the person who appears is known.
Deu Match!
After choosing one of the six options available, two columns appear, with five items in each, which can be: drawings and their creators, inventions and their inventors, celebrities and the teams they support, countries and their respective capitals or currencies in circulation, among others.
The information comes scrambled and the pairs’ mission is to link the right item from a column to its correspondent within the stipulated time.
Sound in the box
It’s the musical proof of1001 Questions. The six categories bring musical styles such as rock, country music, MPB, samba, pagode… There are some variations, such as “sofrência”, “70s”, “80s”, but always with a clear indication of what it is about. When choosing an option, a snippet of the song is played back in the studio. Then the time starts running and the contestants must guess who the artist is and the name of the track.
After that, a new part of the song is played, but this time, the mission is to complete the lyrics that follow.
Final stage
passing the baton
It’s the ultimate challenge1001 Questions, disputed only by the two best placed pairs. It’s a real question rally. But, unlike the first test, here there are no alternatives to choose from. You need to answer directly, in the can.
Before the battery of questions begins, the players choose a starter, who must answer alone, without the help of a partner. Whoever finishes the preliminary round ahead has the advantage of starting. If correct, the person continues to answer and score. If she doesn’t know the answer, she can “pass the baton” to her companion, who continues the game (but cannot pass the baton back). Correct answers, however, are worth less points. It takes five minutes to answer as many questions as possible. In the event of an error, the countdown timer is paused, the correct alternative is revealed and the opposing duo restarts the same process.
In the end, whoever has the most points wins the program and returns the next day to face new opponents and accumulate the cash prize.
1001 Questions, an original BOXFISH format, airs Monday through Friday from January 17th, shortly after Faustão in the Band.
