The campaign, signed by GUT So Paulo, aims to draw the public’s attention and work on the concept of “Live Well”
QuintoAndar joined the fight against dengue in So Paulo by joining its portfolio of homes to Oxitec’s biotechnology program.
With the name “Casas contra Aedes”, the real estate sales and rental app gives visibility to the awareness campaign, signed by GUT So Paulo, which shows the use of a technology that helps in the battle against Aedes aegypti. The play starring Dr. Drauzio Varella, who is also an ambassador for the action.
The fight against dengue needs all possible support, because everything we can do to contribute to this fight will still be little. Let’s be the common thread of technology, which is part of our DNA, and unite in the fight against dengue, without harming the environment. In addition, we want to give visibility to the fight against this problem that affects our population so much, especially in this time of heavy rains as it was in the summer of this year, explained QuintoAndar’s Marketing director, Flvia Mussalem.
In partnership with Oxitec, QuintoAndar brought the Aedes do Bem solution to the homes in its portfolio, which consists of boxes containing male mosquito eggs that carry a self-limiting characteristic. From the boxes, the Aedes do Bem disperse through the surrounding urban area, actively looking for female Aedes aegypti to mate with. The females that mate with the self-limiting mosquito generate only male mosquitoes, which do not bite and do not transmit the disease. The result of this is control of the mosquito infestation in the treated area.
Self-limiting mosquitoes are new allies in the fight against Aedes Aegypti. They can help a lot in fighting dengue, but they need to be associated with the practices already recommended above. Pay extra attention to avoid stagnant water indoors. The more prevention, the better, said Dr. Drauzio Varella, ambassador of the action.
The campaign aims to draw the public’s attention to the format adopted by the real estate platform and work on the concept of “Live Well” associated with an issue that affects all of society.
QuintoAndar has been constantly innovating, not only in its products, but also in initiatives to help people live better. The idea is to position the company as an agent that collaborates for positive social transformations, generating real benefits for ordinary citizens from the use of technology and its property portfolio. People will be able to sign up for free on the site to gain access to the box and help fight dengue in their region. In other words, we migrated from a brand action to a relevant service, explained Murilo Melo, ECD at GUT So Paulo.
Initially, the project will be implemented in the neighborhood of Jabaquara, in So Paulo, where the Aedes do Bem boxes are being installed in 79 previously mapped residences, covering an area of 400 thousand square meters and protecting around six thousand people.
Next, QuintoAndar will expand the program by distributing 200 boxes of Aedes do Bem free of charge to anyone who registers on the Casas contra Aedes movement page. People who want to join the fight against the mosquito will also be able to buy their own boxes through Oxitec channels.
In addition to supporting tools in the fight against the Dengue mosquito, QuintoAndar will also launch pieces and films that seek to keep the discussion on the subject active in one of the most critical periods for the disease, right after the end of summer, when the accumulated water from the rainfall becomes a potential cradle for mosquito propagation.
