The NBA’s third largest market in the world, Brazil was chosen to host the first American basketball league theme park. It is located in Gramado, in Serras Gachas, the space with more than four thousand square meters that gathers, in five floors, technology and interaction, capable of awakening the passion in fans (and not so fans) of basketball.
NBA Park, open to the public from this Wednesday (19), has 15 attractions ranging from one block to the NBA Museum, passing through memorabilia exhibitions, instagrammable panels, official store of the basketball league, restaurant, NBA Museum , Replay Center, rea kids, among others see photos of NBA Park below.
Srgio Perrella Filho, Vice President of Licensing and Retail for the NBA for Latin America, explains that one of the objectives of NBA Park is to attract more than just league fans. The NBA has an important characteristic, which is to attract not only those who like basketball. It connects very well with the culture of music, fashion, dance, he said.
According to Ibope Repucom, Brazil has around 50 million people who declare themselves basketball fans, a number that went from 2% to 4% of the population. These numbers, however, also contribute to another important arm of the brand: product licensing.
Much of the licensing success is linked to retail success. By the end of the year we will have almost 30 official NBA stores in Brazil, and the fact that you have your own distribution channel also helps the relationship with licensees, as you already have the customer and the sales channel, said Perrella.

The choice of the gacha city to receive the park is due to some factors, among which is the number of tourists that Gramado receives in the year: close to 8 million people.
Jonas Ortiz, CEO of NBA Park, says that the Serras Gachas region serves tourists from all states, and NBA Park being here, he said, has a connection with all of Brazil at the same time.
