Amazone-se educational project, Centro de Trabalho Indigenista and Survival International present a project in Indigenous Peoples Day
To make the new generation aware of the importance of preserving the indigenous population, AlmapBBDO created the educational project A Terra No Minervel, launched on social networks on the Day of the Indigenous Peoples, this April 19th.
The initiative has the participation of Amazone-se, the Centro de Trabalho Indigenista CTI and Survival International, civil society organizations that work with indigenous communities in the Amazon.
The program takes place in Minecraft, the best-selling game in the world, which teaches children to mine and develop their worlds. On a map set in the Amazon Forest, made up of indigenous peoples, their rivers, trees, birds, bonfires, among other elements, children will have the opportunity to learn about preserving the environment. In the new mod created A Terra Não Minervel, it is impossible to mine the soil.
The map presents elements of indigenous culture in Brazil in a virtual world to bring real awareness, points out Francisco Tupy, Minecraft Educational consultant.
“We are very happy to support the start of a powerful and innovative project that mixes pedagogy and technology. It is urgent and necessary to value and bring the richness and living cultures of our Amazon to the education of children throughout Brazil. We believe in the potential for growth and expansion of new future aspects of this educational project”, highlights Guilherme Cesaro, pedagogical and legal director of Amazone-se.
Terra No Minervel is an essential project for raising the awareness of new generations about the importance of protecting indigenous lands, the enormous biodiversity found in them, and of respecting the best guardians of nature, which are the indigenous peoples”, endorses Priscilla Oliveira, researcher and activist for Survival International.
The project, co-created by AlmapBBDO, also has a website in addition to a launch film.
