Brazilian, born in Rio de Janeiro, Felipe Dana, from the Associated Press, is the owner of the 2023 Pulitzer Prize for Photography. The photographer won the prize, one of the most important in the world, with his coverage of the Ukrainian War, in the city of Mariupol.
Created in 1917 by Columbia University, in the United States, the prize is a tribute to journalist Joseph Pulitzer. The contest awards works by journalists or organizations based in the United States in 15 categories, and also distributes eight arts awards focusing on books, music and theater.
Dana began her career as a photographer’s assistant at the age of 15, and has worked in commercial work, in addition to contributing to local and international projects. In 2009, she joined the Associated Press and decided to dedicate herself exclusively to photojournalism. In 2014, she photographed the World Cup held in Brazil and, two years later, the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
Felipe was also part of the AP Pulitzer Finalist teams in 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2021.
